About me

The purpose of this blog

Hello! Thanks for visiting!

I've always had an interest in getting free stuff (haven't we all), dating back to my first real computer in the millennium year - before that it was 'Commodore 64' and then 'Amiga 600', which could do some of what I intended but not all, and of course using the internet on such equipment was beyond me - that first proper PC with 'Windows ME' on it was a godsend and I began to learn a lot more. Of course by today's standards it was obsolete, but at least I could surf the net from a 'dial up' and began to use 'p2p' to get hold of free vids, music, pictures, software: whatever I wanted. From the dial up connection though everything web based was slow by comparison to today, so I often found myself waiting ages for just a few megs' of data.

If I chose to write anything to CD it was hit and miss, with a CD writer I bought seperately and installed myself; unfortunatelt that first CD writer was not burn-proof so after waiting hours to download the media files, I then had to risk it with the CD writer and often found myself throwing away more CDs than I managed to save. I eventually purchased a burn-proof CD writer and saved myself a fortune in wasted discs.

That first proper PC set-up cost me about £2,000 - I could get 5 for that price today and all of them would leave that first one standing, indeed the system I use now cost only a quarter of that price and although not the best it would still leave the old one in a cloud of dust.

I don't throw away any CDs or even DVDs anymore because they've failed to write, I go online any time I like and with my broadband connection the downloads take a matter of seconds (and I still think it's too slow when compared to my Wife's PC which although it cost about the same it leaves my PC standing; to be fair it is a couple of years newer and more advanced, such is the speed of advancing technology. Even my daughter-in-law's laptop leaves my PC standing).

I'm drifting away from my aim here so allow me to get back on track.

I don't use p2p any more, you don't really know what you're getting or if the downloads include any nice viruses to mess up your system, I have found safer ways to get the stuff I want. I try not to pay for anything unless I'm forced, and that is the main point of this blog; aimed at getting the media files, software and other related stuff without having to cough up any dough so the old credit or debit card remains in the purse or wallet.

Recently I wrote an eBook about getting music files absolutely free by using video sites like 'YouTube' and free downloaded software. So I thought 'There's other free stuff you can get for free media off t'internet; I wonder if anyone else would like to learn this stuff?'

Plus I don't think it's fair that people should be ripped-off by paying for stuff they can get for nothing!
So here it is, let's call it an 'internet media tutorial site' for the sake of argument.

The idea is to put loads of stuff on here to teach how to get all this media for free. I will try and update it as much as I can but please bear with me, cos I have 5 other blogs to work on as well as this so there might be a bit of a break between updates and new posts.

Thanks for your interest!
